Translink - A Guide for Getting to Sunshine Coast Australia by Public Transport
Train
A long time before Translink, I used to catch the train from Woombye to Central Station and return a few days a week, when I first went to Uni in Brisbane. It was great, I used to study I mean sleep on the train. It is quicker than the bus and it is convenient. You feel safe and the trains are clean. In those days we used paper train timetables! What To Expect: - Modern electric air-conditioned trains fitted with video surveillance and emergency communication systems to increase the safety and comfort of passengers
- Queensland Rail (QR) operates a regular service from Brisbane to the Sunshine Coast
- You will find lots of commuters on the train so if you are flexible try to travel outside of peak times (7.00 - 9.30am, 3.00 - 6.30pm) so that you can definitely get a seat
- Some of the trains are fitted with luggage racks and toilet facilities (usually located behind the drivers cabin or near the guard's cabin)
- It takes nearly two hours to Nambour by train, some trains are Express

- Bikes are also permitted on QR services excluding peak times on weekdays (7-9.30am travelling towards Brisbane, 3-6.30pm travelling away from Brisbane)
- Fold-up bikes are permitted to travel at anytime as long as they are contained in a carry bag and are within the following dimensions, 79cm x 59cm x 36cm
Bus
I also have travelled on the bus from Brisbane to Sunshine Coast Australia. Buses are modern, comfortable and air-conditioned. One pro is you definitely get a seat and you will not travel backwards like on a train! The most popular Brisbane starting point for the bus is the Roma Street Transit Centre.
