Noosa Triathlon is one of the most well known Sunshine Coast Events, but that is not all, besides the Noosa Triathlon, there are heaps of fun, free annual events to suit everyone.

King of the Mountain Race
25 July 2010
Pomona

Celebrating 30 years, this mountain race in the little town of Pomona, attracts competitors that are willing to test their stamina and balance as they climb Mt Cooroora which rises to 439m. Enjoy the festival atmosphere.

National Music Muster
24 – 29 August 2010
Amamoor Creek State Forest Park

This event showcases some of Australia’s best country music, 2009 highlights included Kasey Chambers, Troy Cassar-Daley, the Black Sorrows, Evermore and Kisschasy. Comedy, Folk and Theatre are also featured.

Caloundra Music Festival
21 – 24 October 2010
Kings Beach, Caloundra

The Caloundra Music Festival is a relative newcomer. This is a family event with some extraordinary musical talent. In 2009, Music lovers were in for a real treat when Noiseworks, Hoodoo Gurus, Josh Pyke and Toni Childs took to the stage. Get down and enjoy the carnival atmosphere with the street parade and markets. “Sun, surf and soul”.

Noosa Triathlon
27 October – 31 October 2010
Noosa

The first competition was in 1982 and now Noosa Triathlon is largest triathlon in the Southern Hemisphere, Third in the world to London and Chicago. Now known as a ‘Multi Sport Festival’, events include fun runs, a special triathlon, kid’s events, golf days, cycle events and ocean swims.

Mud Bulls and Music
4 - 7 November 2010
Landcruiser Mountain Park

Something a little different, a mixture of fine music, a Bullriding Rodeo and a 4x4 extravaganza, held at Landcruiser Mountain Park, Jimna. The fabulous 2009 lineup included Adam Brand, The McClymonts, Troy Cassar-Daley and Tania Kernaghan.

Enjoy 2000 performers, across 400 events. This Internationally renowned event has in the past featured artists such as Ash Grunwald, John Williamson, Katie Noonan, and Lior. Enjoy concerts, dancers, workshops, a children’s festival, comedy, gigs, a spectacular fire event, dance film and street theatre.

Other New Years Eve Events

Lake Cootharaba – Beach Party
(Not far from Noosa, the home of the famous Noosa Triathlon)

The road is closed off in front of the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club and you can enjoy a little country atmosphere for free. Music, fun and food!

New Years Eve at Mooloolaba

A family street party to enjoy. There are fireworks to celebrate the New Year at 9pm and midnight. If you want to soak in the atmosphere but don’t feel like heading out just book at room along the esplanade and watch from the comfort of your own balcony. This is what we did when I was 7 months pregnant!!!! Remember though book your accommodation as early as possible and choose carefully, make sure you have a room with a view.
