Bring Out The Masterchef In You, Enjoy The Best Culinary Schools Of The Sunshine Coast.
Culinary schools, wow Masterchef has opened up a whole new world, hasn't it!!!! The Sunshine Coast has some great culinary schools on offer. One of the most popular is Spirit House. A well established school located at Yandina, teaching Thai and Asian cuisine. Classes go for around 4 and half hours and include lunch and dinner with wine or beer. Besides this cooking school, Spirit House also hosts an award winning restuarant, serving 'contemporary asian food'. My good friend Sharna, recently enjoyed a thai cooking lesson at Spirit House.

Here we are! Here is what Sharna shared with me about the experience. How did you hear about Spirit House? I heard about the Spirit House through my supervisor at work. She went on a tag-a-long cooking tour with them in Thailand in February and bought me their special edition cookbook. She strongly recommended undertaking some classes due to their authentic flair in their cooking. Did you just go for a meal or did you go to the cooking school? I participated in the cooking school’s Essential Thai 1. It was a 4 hour cooking extravaganza and at the end of the session we were seated at the dining tables with bottles of wine and enjoyed all the meals we had prepared. Did you enjoy it? Very much so. I am actually going back there soon to complete the Thai Banquet cooking course. What was the best part of the day? Whilst eating the yummy food was delightful, the best part of the day was the first hour, where we were taught about each of the important ingredients in Thai cooking. What did you learn how to cook? Thai Fish Cakes, Chicken and Pumpkin Red Curry, Cuttlefish and Prawn Salad with Green Paw Paw and Pork Stir Fry. Would you recommend Spirit House to a friend? Absolutely. One of my friends accompanied me to the cooking class and I daresay I will take another friend with me next time. Would you return? Yes definately. Have you been to a cooking school before? No, Never before, this was a great beginner’s class for me. How many people were there in your class? 12-14 What sort of people were in your class? The class had some great diversity. We had people from different cultural backgrounds and age groups from 18-65. What was the teacher like? Fantastic, patient, thorough and explanatory. Will you continue to develop the cooking skills that you have learnt? For sure, I have already started using them at home. Where did you stay up there? In Eumundi, it was nice and close. Was Spirit House easy to find? Very much so, they have a map on their website and the roads are well signed. Your last word. I would recommend the Spirit House to anyone who is interested in Thai cooking and has a genuine passion for unique flavours.
